Nerve conduction studies (NCS/NCV) measure how electrical signals travel through peripheral nerves. They may be considered when there is numbness, neuropathy, diabetes-related nerve symptoms or another neurological reason. They are not a routine test for every sexual-health concern.

What usually happens

- The equipment measures response speed and strength
- Results are interpreted with the clinical examination and other tests
Preparation and safety
Tell the clinician if you have an implanted electrical device or take medicines that may be relevant to testing.
Bring a current list of medicines and relevant reports. The clinical team can tell you whether fasting, bladder preparation or medication precautions apply to your test.
